On May 9th, all of the grade 7 classes went to Fort York. I didn't know what to expect at first. I thought it would be like a boring museum but I was completely wrong. It was lots of fun. I learned so much about the battle of Fort York and war in general.
First, we went to look at all the artifacts and a 3D map layout of Fort York. We also learned why the buildings were built the way they were and how every detail had a purpose. There were many, many artifacts from the war like cannons and some guns.
Second, we went to where the soldiers and the generals lived. There was a big difference between where the soldiers and the generals lived. In the soldiers room there were about 8 beds and 16 soldier would have to live in that room. However, the generals had nice bedrooms and a nice dining room as well.
Later, we learned the battle strategies the the soldiers used and what happened this specific time. We also learned the different types of soldiers that there were. There were Native soldiers, British soldiers and Canadian Militia (they were people of the town of Fort York that helped). We learned how the Americans fought the British. It was very interesting learning about the battle stategies and why they fought they way they did.
My favourite part of the entire trip was learning how to load a musket. Obviously, we didn't have real guns but it was fun. We learned how to march like soldiers in a line.
Overall, It was a very fun trip. The only thing I didn't like was how cold it was. But everything was so much fun and so educational. I would recommend it to everyone. There's always something that you can learn.

FUN FACT: Where the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium are, is all fake land.
Yup. I was completely blown away with that fact. It's crazy to think even 100 years ago that area was all water. Overall, It was a very fun trip. The only thing I didn't like was how cold it was.
